Bonnie Lynn is one of the most unique of the Maine Schooner Fleet. She is a modified version of designer Merrit Walter’s Trade Rover Schooner. Being a serious offshore cruising vessel, she is built to very high standards. The steel hull is 57’ on deck, with an overall length of 72’. She has a 15’3" beam and 6’6" draft. Bonnie Lynn is a gaff rigged topsail schooner, having three head sails and a traditional square fore topsail. Evoking images of a bygone era. She is U.S. Coast Guard Certified for 38 passengers coastal and 10-ocean sailing.

She has two steering stations, one beautiful antique bronze pedestal and wheel are located midship and another antique bronze pedestal and wheel are in the ship’s pilothouse.

She has a sound-insulated walk-in engine room, housing a 220-hp diesel engine and 12 kW diesel generator. Her elaborate electrical system includes a water heater, water-maker, ice maker, refrigeration and freezer units.

Extraordinary means have been taken to make this one of the most comfortable and seaworthy of the schooners. During her construction, the owners, Earl and Bonnie paid particular attention to details for both safety and aesthetics. One unusual aspect of Bonnie Lynn is her heavily insulated hull and interior bulkheads, which will offer passengers more privacy and comfort. Below deck she is teak and mahogany paneled with a teak and holly sole. Traditional style brass lighting fixtures create a romantic, Old World atmosphere.

As you enter the salon, old-world charm envelopes you, the gimbal brass lamps and teak and mahogany paneling are reminiscent of a bygone era.    

Cabins have hot and cold running water and are equipped with adjoining heads and showers. 110-volt power is available throughout the vessel. The cabins are spacious and have a single berth, in addition to a large double berth (offering more versatility in accommodations). The galley, main salon, and guest cabins are located midship, with the owners having a private aft cabin. In addition there is a fos’cle lounge for more private relaxation.

Although Bonnie Lynn has a very traditional look, she is equipped with the most modern and technologically advanced navigation, communication and safety equipment.Surrounded by hand-finish Honduras mahogany cabinetry, the high tech galley provides the backdrop for Bonnie’s culinary delights catering to your own whims. Bonnie Lynn features three double guest cabins with adjacent, state-of-the-art push button marine heads and roomy tiled showers with generous supplies of hot water.
